Hola from Quito!

I am sitting in an internet cafe in Quito. I met a woman this morning from England that will be in my Galapagos group and we walked around the city today taking photos (a fellow Canon DSLR user) and eating Equadorian food at cafes. We booked a tour tomorrow to see old town and the monument at the Equator. All in all it was a good day. The altitude here hasn´t bothered me too much (Quito is over 9000 feet), although I do notice a difference when climbing stairs. The hotel is simple but seems to be in a good location though we are told not to wander around alone at night, which is good advice almost anywhere. Tomorrow night I meet with the rest of the Galapagos group and we go over the details of the cruise. I´m excited and happy to be here. The weather has been very hot but the skies were clear today.
